   What do we do?

Jonathan Sweedler, as the Principal Investigator of the Center, also leads the Administrative Core, which is charged with scientific review of Center research projects, and with facilitating communication between Center staff and our research collaborators. Administrative responsibilities include budgetary allocation and oversight, preparation of annual progress reports, seminar planning, and meeting organization. The core also includes an External Advisory Board and Internal Advisory Committee, as described below.

EXTERNAL ADVISORY BOARD

The External Advisory Board evaluates the research being done at the Neuroproteomics & Neurometabolomics Center, offering suggestions and guidance to optimize both ongoing and future projects. Members of the External Advisory Board have both technological and neuroscience backgrounds, including some who have expertise in running mass spectrometric and proteomics centers, and others involved with both fundamental neuroscience research and having familiarity with the neuroscience mission of the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Current Members

We are pleased to introduce our current Advisory Board participants, and greatly appreciate their efforts to help us to advance our mission: David Clemmer, PhD, Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemistry at Indiana University; Michael Gross, PhD, Professor, Departments of Chemistry, Immunology and Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis; George Rebec, PhD, Chancellor's Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Department of Physiological and Brain Sciences, Indiana University, Marina Wolf, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at the Chicago Medical School of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science; and Robert Kennedy, Willard Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan.

Past Members

Many thanks to our past External Advisory Board Members: George Koob, PhD, Director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Lloyd Fricker, PhD, Professor, Departments of Molecular Pharamacology and Neuroscience, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Fred McLafferty, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Cornell University.

INTERNAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Center also receives guidance from an internal advisory committee comprised of each of the Core PIs, Sweedler, Kelleher and Rodriguez-Zas, and selected research collaborators.
